Two strands of silver hair—not human—cling to her body. Nineteen years earlier, a horrifying murder-suicide in a Chinatown restaurant left five people dead. One woman connected to that massacre is still alive—a mysterious martial arts master who is now the target of someone, or something, deeply and relentlessly evil.
Cracking a crime with bone-chilling echoes of an ancient Chinese legend, Rizzoli and Isles must outwit an unseen enemy with centuries of cunning—and a swift, avenging blade. Other books in this series. The Surgeon Tess Gerritsen. Add to basket.

I lived my entire life with big plans, knowing exactly what I wanted to do, what I wanted to accomplish, where I wanted to be and what my life was going to look like, and I did all of that and was successful beyond anything I could have hoped for.
So the plan, such as it is, is to have not much of a plan at all, except for the broadest outlines. A: Why not? My first instinct was to return to South America, specifically Peru, which I fell madly in love with earlier in So… Vietnam is first. New Zealand? No rules except no war zones.
There is risk everywhere. I also choose to believe in the fundamental goodness of people across the globe. A: Of course! A: I welcome any and all story suggestions — always have, always will! A: No.

Their sites have provided invaluable instruction in packing, preparing, and thinking about what I want from this experience and how I can make it useful and valuable to other people. A: Yes! More than okay! And although yes, I grudgingly admit to the midlife part, it is NOT a crisis. I prefer to call it a reset. I look back and see quitting my job three years ago as the first step in an evolution of what I want my life to look like at this point along the way.
All of them. As I say in the talks I give, we get one shot at this life… just one. And I am just fine, thank you for asking! A: Part of me believes goals are overrated. So as we say in my business… stay tuned! People are wired for progress, and regression looks and feels like failure. A fantastic piece in the New York Times about the constant pressure, both within ourselves and from external forces, to always be moving up the career ladder.
Part of that is because so many companies and industries are designed so that you cannot succeed without always moving to the next position above you. My word-baby is on its own in the world. But I am actively and consciously reminding myself how incredibly fortunate I am, and how proud I am, to have the opportunity to share my story and the stories of so many others.
So I wrote this and they posted it over the weekend … and holy cow what a reaction!

All these people who either leaped already or want to. I address both of those concerns in the book.
Do they think everyone falls and hits their head and forgets everything they know? I find it more than a little bit absurd that time spent having a life, figuring out what your next move is, makes you unhireable. And while the publishing industry remains something of an enigma to me, this experience has introduced me to a team of genuinely nice and caring people who just want to put out a great book. Tess Gerritsen - Wikipedia
The writing is crisp and the storyline has kept me engaged as Ms. Diamond continues to surprise readers with a few surprising twist of events. I can't wait to see how the series conclude. Tess Diamond Nov 24, Kris - My Novelesque Life rated it really liked it. We get a few glimpses of Jake but not enough to make him a more standout hero.
If you are looking for more heat in the romance department, Diamond does deliver but I was more intrigued with the consequences. I will definitely be reading the third book as soon as I can because I am curious to see how it all gets tied up. Oct 29, Kate's Corner rated it it was amazing Shelves: 5-stars , broody-alphas , law-enforcement-fire-and-more , suspense-crime , rom-contemp , arcs. You, Jane. The Killing Place
I like Maggie. She is passionate, a firecracker. She has a connection to Jake that makes her open up. I love them together they Balance one another out and Jake is amazing. Jake was 5 Me, Tarzan. Jake was so accepting of Maggie's past. I was really into the story and as soon as I was in it I got ripped out of it. Three words I didn't want to read are to be continued again. I shall be patient for the thrid book.
I knew there was a cliffhanger but it still annoyed me not enough to dock a star though. Diamond writes a solid Story with great suspense and an unpredictable plot. Kayla is still missing we know who it is and the plot behind it is solid. The kidnapper planned it all for five years and covered his tracks but he didn't cover them well enough. Kayla is a fighter. And the Senator her father is a cruel, coldhearted bastard and well the mum seems to be spineless.
The ending was unexpected and to use Ms.
